Every single day, responders on the frontline face violence, potential personal injury, ongoing stress, and anxiety. There is little, if any time to decompress before they are back out in the face of potential danger.
Being a first responder has never been easy. 2020 has made the jobs of law enforcement, dispatchers, firefighters, and emergency services personnel even more challenging. Heavy workloads with overtime, financial worries, and isolation are common problems in the community. The pandemic has caused even more stress and worry.
At the National Institute of Canine Service & Training (NICST) we feel this national crisis can be helped in new and innovative ways. Our program, First Response K-9, offers our First Responders partnership through service dogs, team dogs, and buddy dogs to help mitigate stress, anxiety, and repetitive stress injuries.
Our program is designed to bring hope back into their lives, to build resilience so that our First Responders can avoid burnout and continue to serve our community.
Your support and contributions will enable us to empower our First Responder communities with life-saving partnerships.
